Cameron Kramer

Unexpectedly, at age 16, Cameron Kramer was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. Five years later, Cam has done countless finger pricks and insulin injections, however doesn’t let any of these life changes get him down. As a Type 1 diabetic, he will be insulin dependent for the rest of his life…or until a cure is found. Unfortunately, kidney failure, adult blindness and amputation are all a reality for those with diabetes. You can help support Cam by ordering a “Cameron’s Cure” custom a-bandz in any style and color.

For every “Cameron’s Cure” a-bandz purchased, we will donate 15% of the sales to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) – the #1 non-profit funder of research aimed at finding a cure for Cameron’s type of diabetes. JDRF is the only major diabetes organization focused exclusively on research. One of JDRF’s largest fundraising events is the “Walk to Cure Diabetes”. This year’s walk will be held on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2012, at the Mall of America.

Recently, JDRF partnered with Animas Corp. in the development of an artificial pancreas. The target is to have a fully automated system to dispense insulin ready for review within four years! JDRF is committing $8 million to the effort and are partnering with a company to improve insulin pump delivery.

More than 85 percent of JDRF’s expenditures directly support research and research-related education.
